History

Then

He began on stage in the early 70's playing Bass guitar for numerous Adelaide
bands playing what was considered heavy Metal -DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPLIN,
BLACK SABBATH. After embracing Punk Rock in the late 70's moved to Melbourne in an attempt to break himself into a much bigger music scene than Adelaide could provide. Answered an ad in the newspaper and joined two songwriters, David Sterry and Richard Zatorski in March 1980 and formed the nucleus of what became the pop group
REAL LIFE.(Remember "SEND ME AN ANGEL and "CATCH ME, I'M FALLING" from '83 and '84?)

Hitching a ride on the NEW AGE/ROMANTIC ERA led to performances in hotels, clubs and concert arenas around Australia, headlining concerts as well as playing support to the cream of aussie bands including INXS, MIDNIGHT OIL, ICEHOUSE, ROSE TATTOO, MENTALS, DRAGON, ETC., ETC., ETC.

During 1993 a tour of NEW ZEALAND followed on the footsteps of "ANGEL" going gold.
After the band's international chart success and following many Australian tours, travelled through America and Canada with THE EURYTHMICS and BERLIN before doing their own shows in both countries. Hitting NUMBER 1 in GERMANY with "ANGEL" led to a an intense promotional tour of several European countries.
The following year saw them in Japan.

SEND ME AN ANGEL was re-mixed and was a hit all over again in the U.S.  After recording the third album in 1990, "LIFETIME", it was back to the States and another hike around Oz.. "GOD TONIGHT" from that album was a Billboard top 10 Dance Chart hit in the U.S.
By this time combined single and album sales worldwide had reached 5 million units!!

Promotion for the fourth album, '"HAPPY'' led the boys to Germany and the U.S. in 1998 and the U.S. again in 2000.

During the years of '83 and the early 90's the band made seven music video clips, made numerous television appearances,  ( incl.HEY HEY IT"S SATURDAY, and hosting COUNTDOWN) and presented awards at music industry award nights. Al's dynamic on-stage presence also kept him in demand to perform with other bands in between REAL LIFE commitments.
(Too many to mention.)
